Explanation and how to make it work

Hi everybody! I feel it might be time for a little explanation on why I haven`t been that active lately. The thing is that I got this new job, teaching textile crafts at a school and I totally love it, one of the perks is that I now I don`t have to spend one hour a day in my car, witch gives me more spear time. So far so god. Now the thing is that I love teaching so much that I have decided to go back to school to become one. So now I both work full time and study full time, this means that I have a minimum of spear time and I`ve realized that even though I love blogging I just don`t have time for it.

Now I don`t want to kill of my blog and I don`t want to stop reading all of yours, it`s just to much fun. So what I thought is this, I`ll keep my blog but I wont make these long post any more, I will try to make do with just posting pictures now and then and maybe just a small text on what it is.

Most of the creative work I do now has to do with school, it`s lots of projects that I`m trying out to see if I can do them with my students. My students are between nine and fourteen so the projects vary in skill required. The masks in the picture is a project I`m starting with my nine year olds, they get to be all kinds of creative at the same time as they get better at planing, cutting, blanket stitch, sewing on things and so on. Besides witch ten year old doesn`t get exited about dressing up?

Lace

So now I`m into lace. Thanks to Pinterest I have more patterns than I have time to try and there all so beautiful. I finally learned how to follow instructions with symbols and I have to say that it`s way easier then trying to remember were in the written instructions I am, I just get lost. Anyhow, I`m still trying out all these wonderful lace patterns, playing with colors and different kinds of threads and falling in love with every piece of lace I make. I`m using red and white now, and the plan is to have lots of wonderful laces to use for my many upcoming Christmas projects. My daughter is having her birthday in a couple of weeks and after that I am planing to go totally into Christmas mode, I can`t wait!

A thousand projects.

There`s lots of things happening at my place right now, I´m trying to make a thousand things at once and in the process I`m leaving half finished projects everywhere. The thing is that I love having projects lying around, when ever I want to make something I just pick a project up and get going, that way I don`t have to plan a new project every day, the days I`m feeling creative I just plan a bunch and start them all off and then get distracted by another one. It`s perfect.

Right now my favorite ones are crocheting lace and sewing quilts. I have two quilts that I`m working on at the same time, there both made with these soft colors, lots of different colors but still soft, I love them both. And the lace, oh how I love the lace. I`m trying out all these different patterns right now and I fall deeply in love with every little piece of lace I make. So easy, and so fun. I`ll show you a few soon, I just need to put the needle down and pick up the camera first.

My new job, could it be the best one ever?

So I got a new job this summer. Two years ago, when I was still studying, I got a job at the school where we live, teaching textile crafts. I`m not a teacher but I worked there for a year and now I got that job back.

So what I do now is teaching kids what I love, I get paid for trying to get as many kids as I can interested in textile crafts. I get to teach them new techniques and I get to inspire them with books, pictures, examples and everything I can get my hand on. I get to have boys walk in to my classroom declaring that they hate cross stitch and that they are never going to learn how to do it, and then I get to hear the same boys at the end of the class asking med if they can take their cross stitch home to finish it. It is truly wonderful!

The downside it that it is hard trying to teach fifteen elev-year olds how to crochet at the same time. and it`s hard trying to help twelve ten-year olds master a sewing machine at the same time. Basically it`s hard trying to teach them everything that I want to teach them, but I do love trying.

The classroom was a total mess when I got there a couple of weeks ago, so I had to start with cleaning and organizing everything, which I of course love doing. While doing this I realized that there were no inspirational material in the classroom at all so I went home and searched through all my things to find things that could work with what I`m planing to do with the kids. I got together a pretty nice inspirational board for them and I also found a lot of wonderful books that was tucked away in an other room.

Since I`m not a teacher this job is just temporary but I am seriously considering going back to school to become a teacher.

The summer has come and gone.

So you may of may not have noticed that I haven`t bloged for a while, for the hole summer to be exact. I was planing to start a lot of new projects this summer, to sew and crochet and do cross stitch and maybe try something totally new. The thing is that summer sort of got in the way of my plans. I realized that there were so many things I wanted to do outside with my family so the crafting and then also the bloging had to wait.

We had a truly wonderful summer together. We`ve been swimming both in the ocean and in lakes and just enjoining the warm weather. We`ve gone camping in Skule, witch was amazing,  and we`ve spent a lot of time out in the woods. This summer we finally found some chantarelles witch made me so so happy, I`m no good at searching for mushrooms but I love them so much. We`re planing to go back to were we found them soon and hopefully find more.
There was a loot of cloudberries this year so we picked a lot of those and filled up the freezer. Cloudberried are one of my favorites, they are so good with ice cream or on scones.
I still have lingonberries left in my freezer from last year but I couldn`t help myself from picking some this year to. There are few things in life that feels as good as being in the forest during fall picking things to eat, I just love it.

But now the summer has ended and fall is finally here, I`ve started a new job and I`m getting back to my crafts and that means I`ll also start bloging again. I`m so looking forward to spending a couple of hours at the computer visiting blogs and seeing what everyone has been up to this summer.
